Do your children have "imaginary friends"? Do they tell you things about deceased relatives who died before they were born? This type of behavior in young children is not unusual.

Young children, especially those between two to five years of age are naturally psychic because they have not yet learned to distinguish between their cognitive thoughts and their imagination. When young children participate in "dramatic play" and take on roles of "princess", "mommy" or "super hero", they are not pretending. These children are actively engaged in using their imagination to find words and actions they feel are appropriate to their "identities".

As I have mentioned in earlier articles, imagination in the key to the psychic experience.

Children are gifted with a wonderful imagination that allows them to explore the known and unknown with equal vision and insight. When I first learned to channel, I would hear the first word of the answer without knowing what would follow. The experience was like decoding Morse code or reading ticker tape.

In an interesting parallel, young children are constantly hearing and learning new words as they interact with other children and adults. It would not seem unusual to them, therefore, to hear words inside their minds as well. It would also not seem unusual or disturbing to them to speak to someone who their parents or friends do not see.

This is natural and customary behavior; these same children are constantly creating voices for and speaking to their toys and stuffed animals!

Parents need to know that psychic experiences in young children are for the most part safe and creative imaginative journeys. I believe that in the near future, adults and children will be communicating on a psychic level unknown to contemporary society.

If you do see that your child is having psychic experiences, and is feeling safe and secure about them, encourage your child to talk about and describe details of the experiences. Be careful to not dismiss the information or the source of the information as "just a make-believe friend". Eventually, your child will learn the difference between imagination and cognitive knowledge. Allow your children to enjoy and benefit from these early childhood experiences. In some children, you may find that their psychic insight will remain a part of their knowledge base and will continue into adulthood.

Regardless of the ultimate outcome, you and your children will benefit from the cognitive and imaginative growth, as well as the insight, that will emerge from your child's journeys into the psychic world.
