The Esoteric Prophesies for 2000

Will the final years of this second millennium see a planetary catastrophe? Will we enter the Age of Aquarius? Will the poles shift destroying most living things? Is this the end of the 360,000 year Kali Yuga, the Age of Misery described by Indian sages? And are these maps showing floods submerging entire western states really true?
Less than five years away from year 2000, it is clear that massive problems need solutions: population, famine, political corruption, nuclear threats, AIDS, holes in the ozone layer, poor education and persons taking no responsibility for their actions. What have prophets had to say about these times? The year 2000 of course represents a number change, but these prediction are more than numbers from the presumed birthdate of Jesus. Predictions come from non-Christian cultures as well. There is remarkable agreement between the Biblical books of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelations, the Centuries of Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce's visions and the writings of mystics such as Helena Blavatsky and Alice Bailey, Rudolf Steiner and Aldous Huxley. We will be concerned here with the latter and the planetary patterns of 1999 and 2000. A previous article, in 1996 Psychic Astrology Horoscope covered other predictions.
America's most renowned psychic was Edgar Cayce who gave over 14,000 recorded consultations in trance over almost 50 years. He was strongly influenced by the Bible, especially the books of Daniel and Revelations. And he described Russia becoming a spiritual center after the earthquakes and axis change, and that China would become the cradle of Christianity "when it awoke." These calamities would, he predicted, come at the very end of the 1958-98 period and would foreshadow the Second Coming of Christ. Such changes included the wide scale destruction of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York. Indeed, there were giant earthquakes in California in 1989, 1994 and massive fires in Oakland in 1991. New York's demise, he said, would follow that on the West Coast.
Massive flooding, he said, would occur in Mississippi, Missouri, and Louisiana (it happened in the summer of 1993), and the emptying of the Great Lakes into the Mississippi River and then into the Gulf of Mexico. A shifting of the Earth's mantle will explain the destruction of vast areas of the American west, Japan, and the Pacific Rim nations will be even more volcanic than usual. New York City, Connecticut, and the coast of South Carolina and Georgia would be flooded by a lowering of the land over 30 feet. Global warming from a depletion of ozone levels has already begun to melt polar ice. Cayce might just be right, even though he did not describe the pollution effecting the change.
Cayce made frequent references to Mt Etna in Sicily during this revolutionary 1958-98 period. The eruption of this volcano would presage the other earth cataclysms, he said. Russian scientists did determine that Etna rose 25 feet higher than its last eruption in 1960. In 1991 and 1992, Etna's eruptions destroyed the village of Fornazzo at its base, with added destruction from 1995 eruptions. Cayce said that if either Mt Pelee in Martinique or Mt Vesuvius in Italy were to erupt, then major earthquake activity would occur in an area from Utah to California. And sure enough, that happened in the Spring of 1992. The Philippine eruptions of Mounts Pinatubo, Mayon and Balusan in the last five years have affected weather patterns all over the planet by their dust clouds thinning the ozone layers. However, Cayce also said new lands would appear in the Caribbean.
Esoteric prophesies
The primary esoteric prophesies have come from persons associated with the Theosophical Society, founded by Helena Blavatsky in the late 19th century. Rudolf Steiner, an early member saw prophecy as one of the highest forms of humanity's spiritual development. Steiner's book Occult Science formulated spiritual laws patterned after those in the sciences which, once understood by a person's higher perception, would enable humanity to regularly prophesize accurately. Futures could be seen without interfering with the choices we all must make. The passage of Uranus across the Capricorn-Aquarius midpoint is literally the call for a time machine. Saturn rules time itself, and in Capricorn that represents the past and in Aquarius the future. Uranus just crossed that point last year and Neptune is scheduled to in 1998. Are we all about to realize that time is the illusion mystics have claimed it to be?
Steiner claimed the physical sciences to be very limited in predicting the future, while prophetic spiritual cognition proceeds from a more abstract seeing with access to higher worlds that preordain growth in human consciousness. We are now in the fourth stage of that development, he says, while in previous realms we were governed by the intelligence of Saturn, the Sun and Moon. Humanity is already acquiring these higher states to be used following a transformation of earthly existence. The clairvoyant factor will appear as a basic part of consciousness rather than as the dreamlike images of Moon consciousness. When Earth is transformed into the next Jupiter stage, we will interact with beings hidden from our present sense who are the subjects of the 'mystery sciences.' Then there is no birth or death, time will dissolve, with awareness of cosmic unity the result.
Are the NASA probes into Jupiter's atmosphere, and the comet crash there last year, preludes to our increased Jupiter awareness? You betcha. The three conditions preparatory to the Jupiter consciousness are, Steiner continues, that we meet the Spirits of Personality or Primal Beginnings, the Children of Fire known as Archangels, and the children of Twilight known as the Angels. Similarly we shall meet the Seraphims, Cherubims, and the Thrones. As we approach the Sixth post-Atlantean epoch, ethnic discriminations will diminish in importance and root religions will be replaced by a universal Spiritual Science.
Theosophical Society founder, H. P. Blavatsky, identified the spiritual masters Koot Hoomi, Djwhal Khul and Master Moorya as the sources for her books Isis Unveiled and The Secret Doctrine. Two other women, Mabel Collins and Florence de la Rue claimed their channel to be Hilarion, purportedly the channel for the Book of Revelation to John the Divine.
Countess Helena Roerich also received transmission from Morya about 65 years ago. The 15 books that resulted became the basis for the Agni Yoga Society. Alice A Bailey contacted Djwal Khul, then in a Tibetan lamasery simultaneously and her telepathic connection with him became the basis for 19 books on the Seven Rays dictated by this Tibetan. All of the above women, plus Annie Besant, were channels for the Secret Doctrine passed on for millennia within the Himalayas. The basic premise was that behind the things, lives and ideas of the world is a divine, transcendent ground of reality, the nature of which cannot be perceived directly except by being loving and pure of heart. Although it may be couched in different language, this is the underlying truth at the core of all religions and revelations. The writer Aldous Huxley believed writer and philosophers only perceived this second hand, while those who perceive it directly are called saints, sages, prophets, and avatars.
While the Tibetan's prophesies cover millions of years, events of this century are singled out. Djwhal Khul stated in 1931 that humanity was entering the sign of Aquarius, represented by computerized sciences and efficiency, however in most prophesies he states that the year 1999 is the transitional point between Pisces and Aquarius. Any Age is determined by the constellation of stars (not zodiac signs) on the eastern horizon at the beginning of spring. Since the constellations Pisces and Aquarius as generally defined by astronomers overlap in longitude, the precise date of transition is controversial. The constellation boundaries are human-made and thus to some extent arbitrary.
Astral energies from Aquarius will stimulate each person's astral body to a new group consciousness, says the Tibetan. Present Aquarian energy has a negative effect on most people while it is activating positively on less conscious levels of spiritual evolution. The materialists will be shattered, and new abilities will emerge with the 1999 transition to the "true New Age." Peace in the Balkans, in northern Ireland, in Ruanda, Nigeria and South Africa, and in China is the forecast, as well as the more subtle peace between the organic farmers and the irresponsible users of chemical pesticides, ozone destroying devices, nuclear leaks and oil spillers. Russia's role is very embryonic now, says the Tibetan, its critical role in the earth drama yet to come.
The Tibetan predicts the Chinese sage Confucius will incarnate to superintend developments in Russia. The main social changes to occur through seed groups of disciples of the New Age. The final stage of the Christ's 300 year mission began in 1945 and will extend into the next millennium. He will not demonstrate the perfected life of a son of god in this life, but rather the head of a spiritual hierarchy, meeting a need for truth, right human relations and loving understanding. He will testify to the fact of his resurrection and the immortality of the soul, shifting from an emphasis from death to life.
The last decade will see the teaching of Shamballa revealed. New scientific theories will be developed by two children, one from the United States and the other from India, which will harness the higher reaches of light and allow motion to result from the power of the eye!
In 1999, the Tibetan says the sign of Libra will come into a powerful position. Using the traditional tropical or even the Indian Vedic systems of astrology based on the vernal equinox as the 0 Aries point, or the constellation Aries, this Libra prominence makes no sense. None of the planets Jupiter through Pluto will then be in Libra. However, if you use the revived ancient system orienting to the lunar north node as the O Aries point, the Tibetan's prediction makes perfect sense. This system is generally called the Draconic: dragons in the sky were depicted consuming the light of the sun and moon during eclipses, and you must know the moon's nodes to predict eclipses. In the Draconic system, the planets Uranus and Neptune will be in the sign of Libra in the year 2000!
The forces of evil and materialism will consolidate forming great stress for those on the plan of peace. Individual selfishness will be replaced by an equally hideous group selfishness. At the millennium transition, the Tibetan said, human thought structures will change, redistributing wealth and reforming political institutions. The living Christ will resurrect early in the 21st century leading humanity toward the Mount of Ascension and the Pentecost will become truth.
The Worst Case Scenario: Massive Quakes in '99 and '00?
Will earthquakes and polar shifts destroy the earth in just a few years? Well, Japanese rocket scientist Hideo Itokawa thinks so, and so do some interpretations of our old friend Nostradamus. And they have fine tuned the disaster to 1999 and 2000.
Preparation for this cataclysm has been the Uranus-Neptune conjunction that we've already gone through. This rare conjunction happens every 171 years, but this time they joined at 19 degrees of the zodiac sign of Cancer where, on July 11, 1991 there was a total solar eclipse. Uranus is the planet concerned with extremes in mental processes for groups and nations, and it corresponds to electricity, technology and such things as computers and biological engineering. Uranus represents democracy, free thinking and equality too. Neptune represents very different qualities connected with feelings, psychic experiences, fantasy, symbols and ideals. Neptune governs alcohol, pharmaceuticals, drugs of any kind, infections, pollution and disease. The polarities of Uranus and Neptune can be reduced to thinking/feeling, West/East, democracy/socialist, and science/religion.
We've already seen the results of this conjunction: the disintegration of communism as a political world force, and national governments drifting toward socialist (Neptune) democracies (Uranus). In both the former USSR and in Yugoslavia, we see the restoration of deeply felt cultural values forcibly suppressed for almost a century, but also the assertive action for peace. In some cases, cultural groups can integrate, while others such as in Armenia and Azerbaijian, or in Bosnia and Serbia old wounds surface and force must be used to heal them. Another outcome of this conjunction is the increased power of NATO, the UN, NAFTA, and the European Community. Uranus represents machines and nuclear energy while Neptune corresponds to chemicals, gases, and oceans, and their conjunction was and is marked by ecological disasters. The use of pressurized spray cans and other ozone depleting chemicals have already created massive holes above the Earth exposing our surface to radiation with resulting high rates of skin cancers, eye cataracts, and the weakening of immune systems to counteract viruses and parasites, which ever growing research indicates to be the primary cause of disease even in the industrialized nations. The conjunction also represents the spread of computer (Uranus) viruses (Neptune) too.
On the positive side, we see increasing unions and compatibilities between Uranian nature science and Neptunian spiritual science. Scientists like Einstein, Heisenberg and Bohm, and biologists like Sheldrake help to integrate the scientific and the spiritual. In addition, more spiritualists and metaphysical persons come into the field from scientific and highly educated backgrounds. And that makes our interests more respectable to the academic community which, with transforming Pluto now in scholarly Sagittarius, is going through its own re-evaluation. By 2005, elementary school teachers salaries will be on par with lowered college professor salaries.
The 1999 and 2000 Alignment
The number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions has increased since the early 1970s. Just last year in 1995, we saw the highest number of tornadoes and typhoons in a season since records were kept. Usually scientists looked for geological causes to explain the earth disturbances, but they discovered recently what astrologers have known for decades at least, that increased earthquakes were correlated to sunspot cycles. And sunspot cycles were correlated to strong planetary alignments. Sunspots are more numerous when the earthquakes are more numerous.
In 1982, scientists Gribben and Plagemann published The Jupiter Effect in which they predicted more earthquake activity because of a rare planetary alignment when all the planets except Earth were on one side of the Sun. Indeed there was increased earthquake activity then. Guess what? A similar alignment of planets occurs in 1999! There will be an important eclipse, the last one in this century, on 11 August 1999 activating a Grand Cross of planets in fixed zodiac signs, (Uranus is directly opposite the Sun and Moon, with both perpendicular Saturn and Mars) which corresponds to the four beasts of the Apocalypse in the book of Revelation: the bull for Taurus, the lion for Leo, the eagle for Scorpio, and the human being for Aquarius.
The path of the August 1999 total solar eclipse covers a wide arc from India and China across northern Alaska, northeastern Canada and finishing just east of the Caribbean. The Sun and Moon opposite volatile Uranus, will have the greatest geomagnetic pull over a line running from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe to central Africa (Chad and Nigeria) and through to South Africa, and on the opposite side of Earth through Hawaii and western Alaska, a well known earthquake prone area. Violent Mars will be overhead at opposite sides of the Earth to restrictive Saturn and righteous Jupiter that day too, near the zenith and nadir in southeast Asia, China, Mongolia and Siberia or closer to home over Washington, Toronto and Ottawa as well as Cuba and eastern South America. Will terrorist adventures affect American government centers too? Thoughts are things. Positive thoughtforms have the power to determine the constructive uses of these planetary positions. Our faith in constructive growth can challenge and overcome the fear of destructive results.
Then in the spring, the Earth and Pluto will be on one side of the Sun, while Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be in a straight line on the other side. NASA studies support the prediction that solar activity increases 20% when Jupiter and Saturn are involved in such alignments, so earthquakes and tidal waves are certainly possible. Uranus is an important factor in earthquakes too. When Uranus is directly above or below the epicenter of a quake, the intensity is usually much more severe at those places.
The year 2000 has three solar eclipses, all partial, on February 5, July 1, and July 31. The eclipse of February 5 finds the Sun and Moon conjunct volatile Uranus again, this time affecting the greatest gravitational pull over extreme west Africa and the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and South America and the opposite side of the Earth will feel it too, especially in northern Japan and the southwest Pacific. The July 1 eclipse has the Sun and Moon together with Mars, Venus and Mercury and all five bodies will be overhead Mexico, and our mountain states from New Mexico to Montana, the opposite side feeling affects too in India, Pakistan and Siberia. Both eclipses are best seen in the Antarctic. But the July 31, 2000 eclipse covers a path from California, Idaho and Montana across northern Canada, Greenland and Iceland, ending in Scandinavia and Russia near the Caspian Sea.
Perhaps the predictions of destruction are a test from some force far more wise and perceptive than we could imagine. Technology has outstripped humanity and morality; we've developed machines that have taken over life on the planet, machines once set into motion benignly continue indefinitely, without readjustment to the basic purpose of improving life for us all. The millennium prophesies can be one measure of our own turning point where we search within, beneath the forms we've chosen, forms of race, age, gender, education, health, and habits. When we examine our own depth and learn how cooperation and simple love can change destruction into construction, scarcity for the few into abundance for all, then our true integration begins. In the words of A. T. Mann, "we will call on our inner teachers and find our inherent wisdom, to identify with the parts of us that know and care rather than blaming the world for the situation we have created. Then we will know that the New Age is here."
